Brian Thomas

Brian Thomas is a sustainability consultant with extensive knowledge of the capital markets and climate change. His clients include Merrill Lynch, the city of Chicago, Swiss Re, Good Energies, Cofra Holding, the Nature Conservancy, Bio-era, Taylor Biomass Energy, Zurich Financial, and others.

He publishes a blog about climate change adaptation called Carbon Based. In an interview on Cleanskies.tv, he noted, "Cutting carbon emissions gets most of the attention, but adapting to climate change impacts will probably be more important for everyone in the long-run."

While at Swiss Re, Brian managed the firm's participation in the Climate Change Futures Project. Scientific American cited this study in naming Swiss Re "Business Leader of the Year" in 2006. He also helped communicate Swiss Re's Footprint Neutral product, a visionary method for reducing the carbon impact of everyday commercial transactions.

His strength lies in helping large organizations address the implications of climate change and alternative energy in all their activities.
